Report: The Community Culture & Sports Division is carrying out an assessment of a need for a multi-purpose sports facility in the North of the County including the viability or otherwise of a public swimming pool which will be carried out in 2 phases following an initial scoping/market soundings exercise. The objective of phase 1 is to establish the baseline data by carrying out a mapping exercise including an audit of facilities (sports, community etc., public and private) and a Gap Analysis which will be evidence based and future proofed. Phase 2 will entail a feasibility study that will assess funding opportunities, profitability, future business growth, operational models etc., It is anticipated that work on Phase 1 (the gap analysis) will commence in January. Input will also be taken from the public consultation phase of the “Our Balbriggan” strategy development process.
